To put it simply, I'm Casey Therriault, but we don't want simple, we want COMPLEX! I have always been a cross between introverting myself into a recluse and extroverting myself into a socialite. I found it impossible to balance.. go figure. Growing up, it's very hard figuring out who and what you're going to be, with most of our focus on the wrong things. I started playing football at the tender age of 5. I was a little early into the sport, but I was beyond my years. Throughout childhood and teenage years, thats all my life consisted of, sports. However, I wasn't just the only child in the cliche "All-American family." I was one of four boys in the house and I sat comfortably at the tail end of the middle child. My oldest brother was born with a bone disease that has crippled him and stolen most of his youth. My second oldest brother is a case of his own, but was born healthy as an Ox with all the opportunity in the world. Lastly, my youngest brother was born with the same bone disease as my oldest brother, as well as a develop-mental disability called, Angelmans Syndrome. This syndrome renders him speechless and poorly functioning motor skills. Nevertheless, he's our families light on a gloomy day... also our pain in the ass on a sunny day.
You may be wondering, is this who I am? Well.. obviously. Our families, friends, and mentors are the people who shape us. My household is a very open, say what you will setting. We were raised with an open mind to seek, conquer, and believe anything we find to be the truth. We debate, encourage, mock, and most of all, tell the truth to each other in any situation. My parents have been married for over 30 years, conquering obstacles unprecedented by 90% of 1st world population. Thinking about their marriage impresses me to this day. They've showed me you can come from two complete different walks of life, have multiple kids with life threatening diseases, send another child off to war multiple times, have another kid charged with murder, see both their parents divorced and re-married multiple times, deal with all the shit that comes with life in general, and still have a successful marriage. Impressive to say the least...
You're going to find my perspective that comes from a mix of my adventures, journey, and learnings from my life and the people who have been in it. I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1989. Since then, I've LIVED either briefly or long term in California, Vancouver, Mississippi, Ohio, Florida, Germany, and Toronto. On the other hand, I've been fortunate enough to travel and experience more than 15 countries, and loving every minute of it. I've had three relationships in my life and who would have thought, "third times a charm," is actually a real thing. My ups and downs come with a huge gap. From highly scouted college football recruit to being charged with murder, my writing will reflect every aspect of who I am.
